AI Agent — The Next Level

✅ Proactive — acts without being asked
✅ Self-healing — retries on failure
✅ Can set its own sub-goals
✅ Runs on schedule or triggered by events
✅ Learns from past interactions
Example: an agent that monitors your VPN status every hour, detects expiry before it happens, and renews it automatically — without you asking.
The Key Difference — Memory
Agentic AI:
Session ends → everything forgotten
Next session → starts fresh
messages[] lives only in RAM
AI Agent:
Session ends → saves to DB
Next session → loads history
Remembers employee EMP-4521 had VPN issues
Proactively checks again in 89 days
The database is the brain. Without persistence, you have Agentic AI. With persistence + proactive behavior, you have an AI Agent.
